“I gave to a pink the nerve of a red. A neon pink, an unreal pink, shocking pink.”
Elsa Schiaparelli

Shocking pink
hex #FC0FC0
is bold and intense. It takes its name from the tone of pink used in the lettering on the box of the perfume called Shocking, designed by Leonor Fini for fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli in 1937. The color matches the color of the lettering on the original box. This in turn was inspired by the Tête de Belier (Ram's Head), a 17.27ct pink diamond from Cartier owned by heiress Daisy Fellowes, who was one of Schiaparelli's best clients. (wikipedia)

True to her nature, in 1973 Schiaparelli was buried in an antique Chinese silk robe in shocking pink. (enzyclopedia of the exquisite)

Émile-Alain Séguy (French, 1877–1951)
.. often based his brilliantly colored patterns on scientific illustrations of rare or exotic birds, butterflies, and insects. This motif is based on a vivid color plate in Papillons (Butterflies), an album by Séguy published about 1920 in Paris. (The Met Store)
